School-Wide Communication

Spreading the Word about Asthma Control

A Specific Way to Share Asthma Info with the Community

Beyond working directly with student and their families, we want the school and the broader school community to get something from BACK as well.

If teachers, coaches, PTA members, and others know more about asthma, school becomes a safer place for students with asthma.

Community buy-in and ownership over the program might help with sustainability and help it to continue to be successful in the years to come.

Guardrails for school-wide communication:

    • Only talk about your newsletters in the Torreys group
    • Each group has different ways they are handling broader school-wide communications and communications to the whole community. We are studying which way is best – so it is important that each group follows its own approach and does not take on the other group’s approach.

What does the school-wide communication look like?

ANavs will share 6 communications newsletters following the program introduction with schools throughout the year.

Each newsletter includes a local resource – please make sure to add the SDOH local resource before sharing the newsletter with schools

  • To add your resources into each newsletter, please use this link
  • Newsletters start after program introduction
  • Tracking in REDcap: Each time you disseminate a topic at a school, you will track these newsletters/communications in the school database under the form “School-wide Communication Tracking – Torreys”

Six Newsletter Topics

1. Asthma 101 for school staff/family
